Several partial discharges with frequent recharge are better for lithium ion batteries than one deep one. Recharging a partially charge lithium ion battery does not, I repeat, does not cause harm, because there is no memory issues. In respect, lithium ion differs from nickel based batteries, so short battery life in a laptop is mainly cause by heat rather than charge and discharge batteries. Batteries with full gages, full gage laptops should be calibrated by applying a deliberate full discharge once every 30 charges

Prevent the Memory Effect when using a old laptopIf you’re using a very old laptop, you’ll want to prevent the ‘memory effect’ – Keep the battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-Ion batteries (which most laptops have) which do not suffer from the memory effect.

The thing is, I used to use a CX620MX I did what bikergirl did with her iPod battery: waited till it was empty, or nearly so, then charged it all the way. Worked fantastically. The problem was, CX620MX got plagued with the same problem I see a lot of them getting on the web - pressing any button, any time, has a tendency to kick you out to the home screen.
